The methods of testing bulk density in inorganic chemicals

time2017/04/25

There are thousands of inorganic chemical products. This article focuses on the testing methods of bulk density of solid powder in inorganic chemical products .As you know , the same product has several bulk density because of the different production locations , time , environment . There are three methods of testing bulk density as follows
1  bulk density instrument method
When you use the instrument , first you can pour a certain amount of sample into a tapered  funnel , then open the bolt , let the sample flow naturally  into a certain volume container . After scraping the sample , weigh it . At last calculating  the experimental data  you will know the weight of unit volume which is the bulk density .  This method is simple , can be easily operated , and the cost is cheap . In China most of inorganic chemicals manufacturer use this method .
2 cylinder method
This method has two kinds ,the one is tapping method  , the other is densification method . (1) densification method , First you will prepare a 100ml cylinder and a rubber pad  , then gently  pour the sample into the cylinder , rotate  the cylinder  in an angle of 45 degrees , put it down at a certain height of the rubber pad , then plus the sample into the cylinder again , after so many times , when the sample volume in the cylinder no longer reduces , then weight its quantity .(2) tapping method : it is as the same as densification method , after putting sample into a 100ml cylinder , using soft rubber hammer to tap the bottom of the cyllinder , then add sample again , after so many times , when the sample volume in the cylinder no longer reduces , then weight its quantity . This method is simple , easy to operate ,and quickly ,it can basically reflect the bulk density of inorganic chemical products .
  3 . vibrating instrument method
The method's experimental principle is that using professional instrument ,  put the sample into a 100ml cylinder , start the equipment which will tap the bottom of the cylinder continually , in the experimental process you will add sample continually when the sample volume in the cylinder no longer reduces , then weight its quantity  . This method is seldom used , but it can accurately the bulk density of the product.
